# Selected building statistics of the private sector, February 2026

## Key findings

The value of building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 5,7% (-R834,1 million) during January to February 2026 compared with the same period of the previous year.

The real value of building plans passed (at constant 2019 prices) decreased by 8,5% (-R895,7 million) during January to February 2026 compared with the same period of the previous year.

The seasonally adjusted real value of building plans passed decreased by 15,0% in the three months ended February 2026 compared with the previous three months. Decreases were reported for non-residential buildings (-41,5%), additions and alterations (-11,6%) and residential buildings (-3,2%).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 1,2% (-R76,3 million) during January to February 2026 compared with the same period of the previous year.
