# Monthly Survey of Manufacturing: Advance indicator, March 2026

**Released:** 2026-04-23

Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales increased **3.5%** in March. The largest increases were in the petroleum and coal product subsector and the transportation equipment subsector.

This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of **67.1%**. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been **92.5%**. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the March reference month, this advance indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.

## Note to readers

- The percentage change is calculated using seasonally adjusted data in current dollars.
- This advance estimate is a special product published to provide Canadians with timely information on the manufacturing sector. The official estimate of manufacturing sales for the month of March, which will be based on a more complete set of survey and administrative data, is scheduled for release on **May 15, 2026**.
