# Family Day — South Africa, 2026

The South African Government's official public holidays listing for 2026 shows Family Day on **Monday, 6 April 2026**.

This follows Easter Sunday (5 April 2026) as the Monday public holiday, per the Public Holidays Act which states that whenever any public holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday following it shall be a public holiday. Family Day was renamed from Easter Monday in 1995 to promote family unity.
